Excellent food, the down fall is that they charge for sweet and sour sauce and if you don't ask for soy sauce, napkins or utensils they definitely won't  give you any!

Gave me wrong food then told me I was wrong when I stopped by on a different day.
Details - Ordered crab ragoon shortly before closing over the phone. Was ready shortly after arriving to pickup, so I was happy because it was a last minute craving. At home I noticed they looked different than typical crab ragoon wraps and inside discovered they were egg rolls. You know, shredded vegetable filled egg rolls.
On another day I stopped in thinking it was a simple misunderstanding and would get corrected while ordering a dinner combo. They confirmed they wrote crab ragoon on the ticket then told me I was wrong about what I ate. Evidently they changed their typical ragoon wrap into more egg roll style (cool enough) so she assumed I was mistaken. Except then I attempted to clarify, this was something I ate. When eating this flakey wrapped item, my eyes understood the ingredients observed inside the wraps. Colors, shapes, textures and the third dimensional objects they represented. Not a cream blend of any kind. No crab parts or filler of the like. It was mostly shredded vegetable parts. (Evidently I should have taken a photo of the insides too)
After attempting to explain these minor (yet significant) details, she continued to tell me I was wrong.
Well, I'm sorry to say this is where I decided to leave. My energy is better spent writing a review than arguing with someone over my grasp on reality. No Gim's Chinese tonight. You don't get my patronage after that exchange.
The EGG ROLLS were tasty and flakey. -1 star for wrong order after writing it correctly. -1 star for arguing over something so ridiculous.

This place has gone down hills and needs to be shut down!!! First let me start off by saying our last few orders here was not good at all!!! Food had TOO much MSG and the veggies seem so graining like they don't wash their vegetables. We ended up trashing it. So today My husband got me wonton soup from GIM'S (since we live right down the street from there)!
When I started to eat my soup I looked and not only did it have one BUG but it had TWO BUGS!! This is DISGUSTING!!! We will not be going here anymore!!! Who knows what else kind of nasty stuff they have going on in their restaurant. We will be sticking to East Ocean Restaurant on Webster street from now on!!!

BTW that's my spoon I used to show the bugs! YUK!

This place is takeout only, which can be a little disappointing. It's another hole in the wall but that is what makes it appealing to me. The staff seem a little gruff every time I come in. It's not the greatest food aesthetically, but you get what you pay for. For the amount of Chinese restaurants in this area, I feel like the quality should be better.

Gim's Chinese takeout is quick, solid food! I go a few times a month and or have it delivered. The garlic broccoli is that fire! The fried rice is above board and with a huge menu there is definitely something for everyone! Although there's no seating area it is so worth ordering here when your hungry on the east end of Alameda!!!
